Social Task Instructions
Below are instructions for providing Instagram content, and selling 50/50 tickets.
50/50
Quick Summary
- Tickets are $2/each (no exceptions).
- Please meet everyone in the lounge and encourage them to participate in draw.
- Find the appropriate bucket, typically located behind the bar (the enclosed sheet will have the draw time and correct colour of ticket).
- Funds raised are going to our charity partner End of the Rainbow Foundation.
- Collect money, cash or online and provide tickets. If money collected via on-line payment, only provide tickets when they show you a receipt.
- For on-line sales, let customers scan the "Online Purchase QR Code" visible from the outside of the 50/50 bucket.
- With a mix of online and cash payments you will need to do one of two things:
- Count the number of tickets sold to determine the amount. Each ticket will represent $1 to the winner. 120 tickets = $120.
- Or reconcile cash on hand and online payments and determine what 50% of the total is. An online payment total can be found on the LeagueBuddy form if you use the QR code visible from the inside of the bucket (for ticket sellers).
- Announce the amount for the winner and that the draw will be conducted.
- Have someone who hasn’t participated in the draw to pick a ticket blindly.
- Announce winner and provide them with winnings. With online payments you may not have enough cash on hand. If this is the case, provide all cash on-hand to the winner and the organizing committee will e-transfer the remaining funds.
- Use the QR code (for ticket sellers) which will take you to the League Buddy form to fill out all fields, validate it, then submit it.
- Save all sold tickets, along with the winning ticket, place in the provided plastic bag.
- Return draw container to the bar with plastic bag full of tickets and any funds raised.
Detailed Draw Rules
- All ticket purchasers must be 18 years of age or older.
- License must be displayed, along with a notice which includes colour of ticket roll, the price of a ticket, draw date and time, charitable recipient of proceeds, and a statement that the winning ticket needs to be presented within 10 minutes of the draw, or a new ticket will be drawn.
- All tickets are sold for $2.00. Discounts (e.g., three for $5) are not allowed.
- Ticket and cash reconciliation must be completed in a secure location.
- Appropriate inventory control records must be used for each draw to ensure all sold tickets are entered into the draw.
- Money and ticket stubs must be collected and stored separately.
- The draw must occur before the end of the event or as soon as is practicable.
- The same roll of tickets (same colour, contiguous numbering scheme) can not be reused for subsequent 50/50 draws. Several rolls of tickets of different colours will be available, and will be rotated for every draw (therefore, three different rolls per Saturday – one for the early draw, a different one for the middle draw and a third for the late draw)
- All sold ticket stubs need to be retained. A reconciliation of the amount of money collected matches the number of tickets sold.
- The winning ticket needs to be identified, the name / phone number of the winner, the amount of money won, and the date/time of the draw needs to be recorded for each draw.
- The names and phone numbers of the draw witnesses (i.e. the sellers of the tickets or league organizers) must be documented for each draw.
- A 50/50 completion form will be provided for volunteers to complete where they record winner information and reconciliation data.
Detailed Draw Procedures
- The draw may not be initiated by any person who owns a ticket or a share of a ticket in the draw.
- Winning tickets must be immediately exhibited to witnesses and held open for inspection until the end of the draw or until returned to the draw container to be eligible for additional prizes.
- Paper tickets must be manually drawn from a container that is transparent or constructed with mesh so that tickets can be seen from the outside.
- Prior to each ticket draw for non‐identical prizes, the ticket container must be rotated, or the container contents agitated, a minimum of three times. Prior to each ticket draw for identical prizes, the ticket container must be rotated, or the container contents agitated, at least once. Anti‐static spray may be used to facilitate the rotation of tickets.
- The arm of the person making the draw must be bare below the elbow and, immediately prior to making the draw, the person must exhibit the draw arm and both sides of the open hand to the draw witnesses.
- Only the person making the draw may put their arm in the draw container.
- When selecting winning tickets, the person making the draw must look away from the container in the direction of the witnesses.
- Keep an eye out for interesting or fun photo opportunities, either on the ice or in the lounge.
- Photos where you can recognize faces are usually more interesting than a wide, distant shot of people standing around on the ice.
- Ask permission before taking someone's photo, and respect any requests for not having their photo on social media.
- When you're ready to send the photos to Apollo Curling, log into League Buddy, click the Menu button, and find the Upload Photos menu item. That allows you to upload your photos directly from your phone to the organizers, and the organizers will collect them and post them to the Instagram account.
