Rounds:
- There will be four rounds, each lasting approximately 10 minutes.
Round One: Quick Draw Singles (Verbal)
- Everyone plays as an individual.
- Log onto the system using your phone or tablet by scanning the provided QR code.
- There are 12 clips, encompassing eras from the 1950s up to present day.
- A music clip will be played. When you think you know the song, press the button on your screen (buzz in) to stop the music and the game host will ask you to Name That Tune (song name only, artist isn’t necessary).
- Only announce your answer when asked to by the game host.
- You only have a few seconds to provide your answer after buzzing in.
- If you guess incorrectly, the person who buzzed in after you gets their chance, and so on until someone names the correct song or we move on due to no correct answers.
- There is no passing – if you buzz in but don’t know the answer, it will be marked as incorrect.
- Scoring: 2 points for a correct answer, -1 point for an incorrect answer.
Round Two: Singles (Written)
- Everyone plays as an individual.
- Similar to Round One, except instead of saying the answer out loud, you type it into your phone and submit it.
- Also 12 song clips, encompassing eras from the 1950s up to present day.
- One player will buzz in to stop the music, but all players can type in the name of the tune via the interface and submit it for scoring, if they know it.
- Everyone will have 30 seconds from when the music stops to type in and submit their answer for scoring.
- Scoring: In general, 2 points for a correct answer, 0 points for an incorrect answer, UNLESS you are the person who buzzed in, in which case you'll get 3 points for a correct answer, and -1 points for an incorrect answer.
Round Three: Quick Draw Teams (Verbal)
- Similar to Round One but played in teams.
- Also 12 song clips, encompassing eras from the 1950s up to present day.
- Anyone from a team can buzz in to provide the answer, and team members can confer and assist their teammate who buzzed in, but an answer is required within seconds of buzzing in.
- If the answer is incorrect, the next player who buzzed in from a different team gets a chance to Name That Tune.
- Scoring: 2 points for a correct answer, -1 point for an incorrect answer.
Round Four: Team Deliberation (Written)
- Teams formed in Round Three will remain in place.
- There are 12 song clips, each about 30 seconds long with 15-second breaks between them.
- After all clips are played once, there will be a recap with shorter versions of each clip played back-to-back without any breaks.
- Your team must identify the name and artist of each song, and one person from your team will enter the answers into the form on their phone or tablet.
- Scoring: 2 points for the song name, 1 point for the artist, 0 points for incorrect answers.
Conclusion:
- After all four rounds are completed, we will discuss the pros and cons of each round to determine the best format for future games.
